The Laboratory of Marine Bioprospection and Biotechnology, coordinated by Dr. Diego Wilke, has been developing researching projects to prospect marine natural products with biological activity, mostly anticancer. In this context, we've conducted studies with invertebrates, algae and marine microorganisms as a source of molecules with pharmacological potential. We have found and demonstrated the antitumor potential of cytotoxic and immunomodulatory molecules and elucidated their mechanisms of action as well. In addition, we have also investigated aspects related to the production of marine natural products through omics (genomics, metagenomics and metabolomics) mining.
